I know I’ll be paying for this early morning burst of creative obsession, but it took me over I had to give up on trying to sleep. Even Tuvia’s sleepy pleadings couldn’t keep me from tiptoeing into the kitchen, switching on the light and getting my command center back in action.
I’ve been away from this project for way too long. It’s always the same with me, a totally crazy process: lots of procrastination before I finally bite the bullet and begin. For this one there have been many starts and stops but finally with some revised text for my voiceover, I could really begin. I had ideas, pieces of interviews, a file of photos, even some on my project timeline, but the voice over track now created, that’s what I needed to really get this piece going.
ESWPN- the Empire State Writing Project Network! I can’t tell what it took to finally get all of our 8 NYS sites to agree to the name and even then teachers in Buffalo were not happy. But we continued on and this piece will document our start and development and focus on where we are today.
It’s 5:15 and I am start to feel a bit of a head ache and the need for more OJ and curiosity about today’s weather forecast.
It feels good to begin…really good. Updates to follow.
I can totally relate to all of it…to the procrastination, the 3AM call to finish, and the exhaustion for the day! It sounds like an amazing project. I love your “command center” that made me laugh out loud. Embrace your process and good luck!
Thanks Michelle! See you at #nerdlution!
Good for you. Working with state networks can be like herding cats but worth it in the end. Remember getting started is everything.
Thanks Judy, but my work is more centered about getting this documentary piece done 🙂
3:30?!!? I’ve done that before when I feel called to get work done. Funny how I, too, drink oj when that middle of the night work headache comes on!
I will pay for this but the day should be easy. I just cancelled most of what I have to do. Tomorrow I have a funeral. My 95 almost year old aunt, my dad’s sister just dropped dead the other night. She didn’t want to be 95. She just missed it by a week. We had a party planned for her. She didn’t want that either 🙂
This sounds like a powerful and exciting project. I can’t wait to hear MORE about it!
Hopefully you will have something to see 🙂
I know, you just want to get going! I’ve had those times, just have to get up and on with it! Enjoy the snow while you work today, Bonnie!
I didn’t work much more on that piece after my initial burst but I have the foundation I need to move it. I was stuck without my voice over intro. 🙂 Loved the snow but it didn’t hold us back from using the car. 🙂
Well, you picked just the right day to get an extra-early start! I’m snowed in at school…but I imagine you are already catching up on your sleep!
I did get to nap and play the guitar today and do some planning for some upcoming work with Andrea. Are you at school?
That command center looks quite intimidating! I hope you are catching a nap now and will be re-energized to continue your work.
All good, but now I need more work on this new piece after I started it a 3:30 today 🙂
Wow! It really does look like Mission Control! Good luck with your project!
Thank you 🙂
Wow! That looks impressive. I can’t wait to hear more about it. It sounds very exciting. Hope you get to bed early tonight. 🙂
Oh yes, but the challenge is to stay asleep.
You have me WAY interested in seeing your progress!!
Thanks Jen. More to come, I hope 🙂
I am fascinated by this project and look forward to hearing more. I agree with Elsie though, this project looks a little intimidating! Early, early, early morning is my favorite time to work! I’m much more creative and focused at that time than I am in the evening, after I have worked all day!
Ha, I was wrecked the rest of the day 😦
Command center – love the idea and pic. I hope to see the final project. I still remember the wedding slide show you shared with us.
I promise to have it up for viewing. Thanks Terje.
