March is really a perfect month for this event. Spring never arrives soon enough and this year, well I don’t think I need to start that No MORE SNOW rant, correct? So we need something to keep our juices flowing, our minds racing with the challenge of what to write tomorrow and how many slices can we read and comment on before we really need to power down and get to sleep.
In my teaching years March was the month my school drama was performed and that was the perfect juice to keep me focused on something beyond snow, although often a snow storm or two did throw a monkey wrench in the process: missed rehearsals, sometimes postponed performances, but it kept me on my creative toes. .I miss that excitement sometimes.
What’s interesting these days, is that I’ve discovered the pleasures of the beach. Honestly, I stayed away for years, looking down my nose at sun lovers. I was above the decadence. My vacations had to include intellectual endeavors and often traveling solo, pushed me to create cool vacations around educational programs at colleges on summer break: Exeter College, Oxford, England; Salzburg, Austria, a year in Israel. Loved it all, but one day I discovered Club Med and my life changed. I went beach bum. Sure, I still balanced travel with purposeful experiences but All-Inculsives were in the mix.
Once I traded in my school calendar for my own creations, well my options were wide open and given that Tuvia also got hooked on the beach bum life, we started targeting March for getaways.
Now what about the March Marathon? Can I have my beach and write and read from the 9th-15th?
YES I CAN!!!!!
It was a true challenge in Aruba, given the cross winds that challenged a smooth internet connection, but even then I was able to submit something every day. In Cancun, at the Excellence Las Muertes, there’s internet connection everywhere, even at the beach. So I will continue to keep up.
So March could strangely be my favorite month when I think about it.
Enjoy those warm rays and every moment at the beach. I shall be salivating as I read your posts next week.
LOVE. I will be you when I retire in a couple of years! My husband will have no problem joining me in the beach bum life!
It’s wonderful that you are enjoying life to the fullest. I really enjoy looking at the photos you share. Enjoy!
You’re already at the beach? I hope you have a wonderful time, and find rejuvenation after all the snow!
Bring back much sunlight! Can’t wait to see some wonderful beach pics!
Ah, sunshine, warmth, bliss. Enjoy,my friend!
I am happy for you. Enjoy. Looking forward to sunny pictures. They give warmth through the screen too.
I used to think beach and books were the best but now that I am writing, I just might have to add that too! I love the different hues of blues running from the shallow water, to the deep water, to the sky in the beach picture. If only it could be me! Have fun!
Bonnie, you are my retired-teacher hero. Still active in the profession, but spending as much time as you want traveling. March at the beach…you lucky girl!
Come to The Bahamas next time 🙂
