Morning T,
It would be very hard for you to believe that we are now in the middle of April and so far, it’s hard to really feel we’re in spring but there are a few signs that leave Mother Nature powerless.
1. It’s a double Kaplan birthday today, April 13th! I’m remembering both events vividly. Josh Kaplan, first Kaplan grandchild! I held my breath for months, waiting for him to arrive and make us all so happy- especially Marla and Jeff! And today, he has his wife, his own son and baby on the way. Amazing!
And then years later Amanda(and Steve created Eliana on her brother’s birthday. I know as I write this that you are remembering that we were present even though you were ready to leave before she actually arrived, but I think you knew I was planted right there for her arrival. Can’t wait to celebrate birthday #2 Saturday! It’s the first one you’ll miss.
2. Lynn is back from her winter retreat in Florida and the SUNY Babes dined together last night at a Cosimos centrally located. Lynn, Agita, Jane arrived after me. I was sure I’d be late but NO TRAFFIC up the Thruway at 5? I can’t tell you how good it was to be with them. I’m remembering how excited we all were to be Obama Babes in 2008 but we were student teaching supervisors together even before that and no matter what, we are teachers first and foremost, progressives first and foremost, learners first and foremost and friends first and foremost. It was wonderful just sitting in their presence. Can’t wait for the next meet-up.
3. Back home, by 9:30 I got the call from Ami just as the family entered the house in Hoboken. It’s spring and Passover’s coming and they are back from Israel to spend a few weeks here. I think I’m feeling a bit of joy, actually. No calls from me yet. I’m hoping they are all still sleeping through the jet lag, although I can see Ami, upstairs on his computer, sipping some instant coffee. Can’t wait to share one with him.
4. SUNSHINE!!!! Birds Chirping!!!!
5. SMILING!!!!
We have a birthday this week, too. Ingrid is seven tomorrow! April does bring joyful weather, & you’re right, Mother Nature will have to give in soon! Warm weather today & tomorrow & another storm coming in this weekend! Wishy-washy is the word! Love hearing all the memories and your plans coming too, Bonnie. Have a wonderful time with the family just arrived.
Smiling
Happy plans…and so glad that Ami and the family are back!
So glad. How’s London and your parents.
