Evening T,
I’m trying to remember how I felt when Georgie Bush took the White House from Bill Clinton. I was depressed,of course. The Supreme Court mixed in, stopped the re-count and cheated Al Gore out of his chance to follow Bill and as I packed up my Piermont apartment it was you would brought me the news that turned off my smile of glee.
Bush was NOT my PRESIDENT and I was afraid, an idiot who would bring in a crew of advisors from his father’s time in the white house with special power given to Dick Cheney. I pulled away from the news, from political events, even State of the Union Addresses. You tried, but it was hard for you to stay engaged as well.
But it’s so different now. Bushwhacker compared with the Donald was a teddy bear who wasn’t a racist,a bigot, a sexist, a narcissist, a liar…I could go on… I was afraid of President Bush but yes, he was educated and experienced in the world of governing and he wasn’t imbalanced. Now I’m really afraid that the country I love will move backward and we are in danger.
What would you be thinking now if you were here? Stunned, I’m sure, but we would be stunned and sad together. We would be talking over a vodka for me, a beer for you at Bone Fish. We would be watching Rachel Maddow , reading Charles Blow in the NY Times. We We would not be making plans to attend the upcoming inauguration. We would be sleeping badly but we would be holding each other tightly.
I miss you, my political partner,
Bonnie S.
This is an era of fear for the changes this idiot wants to implement. I’m right with you, friend, fearful of the future of our country.
And I was a true HILLARY lover
So sad that she doesn’t get her shot
