Letters to Tuvia Y2: Escaping? (2-7-17)

Morning T. and Slicers,

Yes, Trump is still president.  I was hoping to report better news, that we were moving faster to impeachment but nope, not yet.  He hasn’t been president for even a month and it’s already  been too long,

and I’m feeling clostrophobic:  No ESCAPING 24/7 Trump.

But the timing is just right.  I’m  off to Israel on Tuesday morning to enjoy two weeks with family, friends and memories of us of course.   Last year, this return to  the familiar was surprisingly healng.  Just walking the streets, feasting on humus and pita, listening to Hebrew… As much as I feared a constant emotional dismantling,  I was more often peaceful and distracted by that dramatic change in my routine.

This year I am praying for distraction from the 24/7 Trump updates. Although, Israelis are glued to the news,  but it could be a blessing that most of it will pass above me.  I have been back taking Hebew lessons but I’m sure  it won’t make much difference right now.

Bags are out and empty,  To Do is getting smaller… I am breathing in memories, ready for new ones…

March is coming Slicers… I’ll be back with a healthy dose of Jet Lag to keep me up writing and commenting.  I remember when I was Slicing on beaches… remember T?

  1. I hope it is an escape, though many will be talking about the latest news there, too, I guess. Happy travels, Bonnie. Will look for updates.

  2. Your bags are packed and ready to roll-sounds wonderful and a break from the rhetoric might be just the right ingredient to spice up your holiday, Bonnie. Bon voyage and enjoy!

  3. What a treat to escape! Try to stay away from the news report, it will only depress you further. I agree, it’s been a long few weeks. They feel like years and there is no glimmer of something better on the horizon.

  4. Yes, Bonnie and Tuvia’s beach trip every March. 🙂 Will you go this year? Enjoy your time in Israel. I am jealous of your oasis from the Trump news machine. It’s everywhere!
