Afternoon from Ellenville T and Slicers,
After a bit of deep thinking this morning, just before my day began, I started making a decision, re-considering my initial decision to hanker down for the upcoming blizzard by myself. Actually, last night, Marie-France, a local friend with a generator, opened the door, inviting me to join her for the storm ahead. She got me remembering and rethinking losing power during serious storms.
Now in this Year 2, as I brewed my first coffee of the day and walked my apartment, I began to trouble shoot and consider friends/family with generators.
Last year, just weeks after you left I worried about the events of emergency without you. Who would be there for me? But that was year one…
Year 2… I’m calmer when I have to trouble shoot surprises. Marie France is in Rockland, but my brother Jeff and Marla in Ellenville and I can always go home and feel comfortable waking up tomorrow morning in pjs CNBC on the kitchen tv for Jeff and Morning Joe dueling in the living room for me.
Just one quick phone call, a scan of the apartment and I was preparing for a ride up the Thruway after a guitar lesson and a periodontal evaluation.
So I am with family. My car is stowed in my dad’s garage and Marla is making cauliflower soup. I’m missing dinner out with you at Bone Fish, our usual way to welcome a storm, but no worries. I’m in a good, warm place where there will always be light and heat,T. You couldn’t even guarantee that.

Great decision! When weather get difficult, it’s best to be hunkered down together.
It is nice to know family and friends are nearby in emergencies. My husband traveled a lot before retirement and it seemed when he was away was when the emergencies happened – no power, leaks, blizzards – I made it through, but it is more comforting to share that experience or burden. Your letters are a wonderful way to communicate your thoughts and feelings, and give you strength. Stay close to friends and family, they need you too.
The weather people are making so much of this storm that I’m glad to hear you are with family in a cozy place. If it really turns out to be a big one, it’ll be fun to be there, Bonnie.
Glad you are with family. And cauliflower soup. And warmth and light.
Thinking of you in this storm! Too much. Glad you have dear friends to seek warmth with.
Good decision. I turned up the heat and got some flashlights ready just in case. I don’t know anyone with a generator!
