Letters to Tuvia Y3/#sol18 9/18: Exercise with Anthony at 7AM

Dear Tuvia and Slicers,

Anthony and I are still together after 13 years of early morning training sessions.  Newly retired, I needed to get back to the gym and as  long as I was back for lunch I had your blessing.  The gym that felt most comfortable was Premier Fitness, in Nanuet.  Years before, in another life that same space existed as a 5-screen movie theater and I knew it well.  And now I was back to sweat there.

As I was moving into a new chapter, Anthony was becoming a full-time trainer.  He had yet to graduate college, get engaged, married or become a dad to 4 kids and  finally finish a graduate degree in physical therapy.  Through it all, we stuck together moving from weights to machines, to weights.. talking and sweating when the day was fresh.

So up in the darkness, I  might be able to slink out of bed, lay out my gym clothes, head for a quick shower and be ready for a quick coffee before I had to leave but it was rare that you were not already sitting  in the lit up kitchen  with a cup of coffee  and a toasted English muffin  for me and as long as I promised I’d be back in time for lunch out, I left with your warm blessing.

This morning, after a torturous Nor-easter storm, I am out still out the door just as the sun rises and even though I had to make my own cup of coffee and even though I don’t have to rush home,  I’m grateful to Anthony for his passion for exercise, for his friendship, for his kindness as I come back to myself, as I continue  this  life without you waiting for me…I still return home with that workout glow your loved.

Shabbat Shalom Tuvia,

Bonnie S.
