There are so many things we can and do slice about but I haven’t seen any about that cloud that hangs over many of us.
I don’t know about you but, this weekend was a tough one for me. I sat on Sunday, in a small church near Woodbury Commons, listening to gorgeous music coming from the guitars of my long-time teacher, Jonathan Trotta and his prodigy, Ansel, now a young man, soon off to college.
Peace! A break from the tension… waiting to hear about the Mueller report. But it didn’t last long… I felt the familiar vibration on my writs coming through my Iwatch.. I didn’t have to look down…something was happening… and I was tensing up again now using my yoga strategy to breathe deeply, to stay focused on the beauty and appreciate the effort Jon and Ansel were making to hold us tightly, but the battle was back.
I sat tight until the last piece, the last movement, the last chord… the last clap, the last conversation… and I was out… heading to my car, my radio, my station of choice- MSNBC… and the news was not what I wanted to hear.
No slam dunk! Mueller’s work of two years, now in the hands of his new AG Barr, could be colored… now Trump is pumped up… ready to take a victory lap and go after his enemies- the “fake” news NY Times etc… the FBI…etc.
The tension continues… what will our battered democracy look like when he and his cronies are done with it?
I know that not everyone reading this will be shaking in affirmation, but we are all tense… I’ve digested my dose of Morning Joe, and the Today Show… TV is off… and I’m grabbing up my guitar now to make my own sounds of beauty… but it’s fleeting in Trumpland…
I’m with you Bonnie. What a sad state our nation is in.
So sad… what a toll it’s taking on us.
The way you describe our current situation in this country is great – we are all tense – no matter what. I know it is taking a toll on how people treat people and how we perceive those who think differently. Our country is built on diversity and accepting differences.
I can’t wait to spend time at the Texas border this summer.
Yes, only time will tell what the real consequences will be…
I always thought that what happened in the states can’t happen in Estonia, but I was wrong. A liberal party won the elections, made the offer to the centrists, they declined and are forming a coalition with ultra right wing party. Every day we open the news and shake our head. It makes no sense. Backward world. I do like to believe that the kindness and common sense will win eventually, only I don’t know how long we need to wait.
So many are either unable or unwilling to see what is becoming of our country. How can people not recognize bullying when they see or hear it?
It’s shocking! I feel your tension in this piece. Will they ever get to the end of it?
