Evening Tuvia and Slicers,
Both of us felt the power of a long winter and made sure we escaped at least once in the course of every winter we were together; even more than once when I retired. Tuvia was so ready to end winter that once we moved into February and we hit one great sunny day, he would declare that winter was over!
Of course, I had to force him back to reality and remind him that February was considered the slowest month of the year and even March was not going to give us spring. He never really believed me until the snow kept falling in February and in March but once we moved the clocks ahead there was no stopping him. If he had snow tires on his car they would have been removed as soon as he heard just one bird chirping.
At some point in our 20 years together I gave up and just let me create his own spring fantasy. Of course the snow fell as it always did, sometimes even into April and of course Tuvia was surprised and unprepared for it but I kept my mouth shut. But I couldn’t stop smiling or twinkling.
For years he bought flowers for his porch in April but here he did show patience and when I suggested that he wait until Mother’s Day. I’m sure he asked plant experts for a second and third opinions.
What a way to pass away the winter, share it with Tuvia Rosenberg.
Another storm is coming and we are in mid March now, Tuv.
